Tanzania continues to make major strides in the international apiculture industry as Tanzania International Bee Co. Ltd (brand name: JAMBO ASALI) signs a milestone contract to export 240 metric tons of beeswax annually to Lithuania in the European Union.

The contract, recently finalized, marks a new chapter in Tanzania’s growing presence in the global market for high-quality bee products. Lithuania, a key gateway to the EU market, will now serve as a distribution hub for Tanzanian beeswax destined for various industries including pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, candle-making, and food processing.

The Lithuanian partner, one of the largest and most respected beekeeping enterprises in Europe, praised the quality and consistency of Tanzanian beeswax. Recognized for their expertise in bee science and their robust supply chains across multiple EU countries, the company has also shown strong interest in expanding investment into Tanzania. A high-level delegation is expected to visit the country in the coming months to explore opportunities in sourcing medicinal-grade honey and investing in local processing capacities.

“This partnership not only elevates Tanzanian beeswax onto a larger international platform, but it also demonstrates the EU’s growing trust in the purity and quality of Tanzanian bee products,” said a representative from Tanzania International Bee Co. Ltd.

Tanzania Honey’s Rise in the EU Market

Over the past few years, Tanzanian honey has steadily carved out a niche in the EU market due to its unique floral profile, natural harvesting methods, and superior quality standards. The country’s rich biodiversity and sustainable beekeeping practices provide a strong foundation for high-value exports that meet the stringent safety and quality regulations set by European authorities.

Products like beeswax, once seen as by products, are now increasingly recognized for their health benefits and multi-industry applications. The medicinal value of honey and beeswax particularly in wound healing, skin care, and immune-boosting supplements has boosted international demand, especially in health-conscious EU nations.

JAMBO ASALI’s Commitment to Quality and Community Support

As a pioneering force behind this export momentum, Tanzania International Bee Co. Ltd, under its flagship brand JAMBO ASALI, continues to invest in the growth of the apiculture sector across Tanzania. The company works closely with over 2,000 smallholder beekeepers, providing training, modern equipment, and guaranteed market access. This inclusive business model ensures that communities in regions like Tabora, Kigoma, Katavi, and Singida benefit directly from international trade.

In addition to exporting, JAMBO ASALI operates the Kibondo Honey Processing Center and Sikonge honey processing center one of the most modern facilities in  Tanzania, certified to meet both regional and international food safety standards. This facility plays a central role in ensuring quality assurance for both honey and beeswax products destined for export.

“We believe that rural economic empowerment and environmental stewardship go hand in hand,” said the company’s CEO Mr. Musiba Paul Kitema. “By connecting Tanzanian beekeepers to high-value export markets, we’re not just exporting products, we’re exporting impact.”

Unlocking New Markets, Empowering Local Beekeepers

The new export contract with Lithuania signifies more than a trade agreement, it signals international confidence in Tanzania’s apiculture sector. With growing interest from European investors and increasing demand for natural, ethically sourced bee products, Tanzania is well-positioned to become a leading supplier of premium honey and beeswax globally.

Tanzania International Bee Co. Ltd remains at the forefront of this movement, committed to delivering excellence, empowering local communities, and flying the Tanzanian flag high on the global stage.
